Natalie Morales from NBC interviews Ann Romney HERE:
The criticism that plagued the Romneys during the 2008 campaign has continued, particularly in regards to their reported $250 million fortune and the issue of their tax returns.
When pressed by Morales, Mrs. Romney stood her ground. “We have been very transparent to what’s legally required of us,” she said. “There’s going to be no more tax releases given.”
Mrs. Romney said if they release any more information, “it will only give them more ammunition.”
In regards to their finances, she said “there’s nothing we’re hiding.”
Just so we’re clear … the guy that ran the largest tax avoidance scheme in history (source), the guy who ripped off Italian taxpayers by funneling profits through offshore bank accounts in Luxembourg (source), the guy who has hoarded as much as $100 million in his personal IRA in overseas bank accounts (source), the guy who started Bain capital with money from wealthy foreigners linked to “right-wing death squads” in Central America (source), the guy who hasn’t even produced one single COMPLETE tax return (source) … they’re all the same guy.
And that guy’s name is Mitt Romney and he wants you to just trust him when he says that he has paid “a lot of taxes” even though the incomplete 2010 tax return he has disclosed shows that he has paid less than the average middle class worker pays.
I seriously do not think this guy paid even 5% in taxes many years. But he wants to cut taxes for the rich and expand loopholes that allow them to hide their money overseas. It’s shameful.
This story isn’t going away. The reason Ann Romney says there is ammunition is because she acknowledges that there are things they’re embarrassed about in those tax returns. Mitt Romney has two Harvard degrees and a background in finance … if you think he doesn’t know his taxes – you’re super gullible and I’d LOVE to introduce you to our $5,000 IACWE subscription special.
Anyone who thinks they can run for President without being transparent about something as basic as their own tax returns while running on a platform that rich people pay too much in taxes … that’s a person who doesn’t deserve to represent the American people.
