There is finally some sanity in this world. Being gay isn’t a sickness and it isn’t something that you can cure – you’re attracted to who you’re attracted to. Finis. Being gay isn’t a disease any more than being straight is. Those who would proselytize this notion that a person’s sexual orientation is only accepted by God if it is to someone of the other sex is prehistoric indeed. It wasn’t so long ago that bigots were using the bible to argue against inter-racial marriage or that it was improper for a woman to show her skin in any way. I can’t imagine being born where my life was a lie.
Since I was young – I always knew that I liked girls. I don’t know why – it was innate. It just was. And if you told me that God (whom I don’t acknowledge exists) said the only way into heaven was for me to like members of the same sex … you couldn’t make me feel an attraction to other men. Not for heaven. Not for anything. And I suspect that’s what it feels for someone who is born gay only flipped. If you’re not into someone of the opposite sex … you’re being asked to live a lie.

California has become the first state in the nation to ban therapy that tries to turn gay teens straight.
Gov. Jerry Brown announced Sunday that he has signed Senate Bill 1172, which prohibits children under age 18 from undergoing “sexual orientation change efforts.” The law, which goes into effect Jan. 1, prohibits state-licensed therapists from engaging in these practices with minors.
Now – we just need a few courageous Governors and legislatures to follow California’s lead here.
