You can see the Gallup results HERE; the media has done such a horrendous job overall. There seems to be this constant blitz for ratings because by and large news divisions are run by large corporations. All of these corporations have an interest and stake in other businesses that could be affected by Capitol Hill and those pesky news shows could really mess things up politically when that corporation needs something. When real newsmen like Dan Rather get fired because of political pressure … something very serious is happening in the world. And it’s ALL about ratings; no ratings – sorry … this is a business people.
There is still some great reporting out there but when news organizations like CNN and Fox News can’t report even a Supreme Court decision properly …. Houston – we have a problem. On the bright side and while clearly a double edged sword – the internet and blogs offer up an opportunity for diversity of thought and removes the choke hold on information. The down side is that not all websites are the most reliable place to get your information.
Here’s my take … get your information from diverse sources … fact check, fact check and fact check … and use critical thinking skills to use make up your own mind. You’ve got skin in the game; it’s up to you to hold these organizations accountable too.
It seems to be the same with newspapers:
