“Conservatives” are so outside of the mainstream of what Americans actually believe. They won in 2010 thanks to a very excited Republican base who are convinced President Obama’s healthcare law was socialism with death panels and he was born in Kenya but he’s also a Muslim secretly conspiring to destroy America. And Democrats were sipping mocha lattes and didn’t go out and vote. They want to get rid of Obamacare and regulations against Wall Street and fair wage laws for women and they want us back in Iraq etc etc.
I really hated George W. Bush as our President (not as a person) but for all of my passion to see him have a replacement … I never supported impeaching him (even though he committed vast Constitutional crimes including ordering torture and lied to go to war with Iraq) and I never would have considered having everything he did repealed.
That’s just mind boggling. Conservatism is a cancer. I do not associate real conservatism with this Fun House mirror stuff I’m seeing from the “tea party” or “conservatives” or “Republicans” today. By the way – they’re all the same thing.
The local Iowa newspaper – the Messenger – has the story on House Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said HERE:
”I am bringing him to court and we’re going to defend the Constitution of the United States and the separation of powers,” the Republican from Kiron told a Humboldt audience.
King added that he’s thinking about introducing a bill, which if it became law, would repeal everything Obama has signed into law.
The congressman, who’s running against Democrat Christie Vilsack in the new 4th Congressional District this year, wasn’t the only one to criticize the Democratic president during the summer picnic of the Humboldt County Republican Party.
To give you an idea of who Rep. Steve King is … here are some quotes:
“If we’re going to respect judge-made law and stop praying in our public schools, that was the beginning of the judicial activism that’s begun to break down this civilization, and this culture.”
And this…
“[W]e will have the votes in the House to put an end to the anchor babies in this country.”
And this…
“If she studied her history, she’d recognize Joe McCarthy was a great American hero.”
And this…
“Planned Parenthood is invested in promiscuity.”
And this…
“If we don’t save marriage, we can’t remain pro-life.”(talking about gay marriage)
And this…
“But the president has demonstrated that he has a default mechanism in him that breaks down the side of race – on the side that favors the black person.”
And this…
“Joe Wilson is an officer and a gentleman and everyone who knows him knows that…being a son of the South puts you in a different position when it comes to the Confederate flag. It means something entirely different to the people who have ancestors who fought in the Civil War on the south side of the Mason-Dixon line.”
And this…
“I’ll just say this: When you think about the optics of a Barack Obama potentially getting elected President of the United States — I mean, what does this look like to the rest of the world? What does it look like to the world of Islam? I will tell you that, if he is elected president, then the radical Islamists, the al-Qaida, the radical Islamists and their supporters, will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11 because they will declare victory in this War on Terror.”
And this from Think Progress…
Rep. Steve King (R-IA) was the only congressman to vote against a resolution yesterday that acknowledges the role that slaves played in the construction of the U.S. Capitol Building.
