This is typical of the Romney campaign…
So – President Obama is responsible for North Carolina LOSING jobs according to the Romney campaign although that claim has been thoroughly debunked. Mitt Romney would like so desperately to hang the 2.3 million jobs lost in the first three months of 2009 around President Obama’s neck … you would think he was a southern Baptist in the 50′s.
And what I have a hard time understanding is how people don’t pay attention to the platitudes that are thrown at them. Romney talks about “smaller government” but we know now that he means cutting unemployment benefits, pell grants, less teachers, police and firemen … allowing banks to “self-regulate” like during the Bush years. That is what smaller government looks like. And we’re supposed to believe that Mitt Romney’s track record as a vulture capitalist is exactly what the country needs …. then we’re lost. If you think it’s good for a private equity company to buy a company that is doing well – borrow lots of money off of it’s value ….cutting worker’s pay and benefits, loading it with debt and then using that financed debt to pay the private equity millions in fees until it goes bankrupt leaving the workers without their pensions and retirement while the private equity company Bain Capital walks away with $100 million – then you’ll love Mitt Romney.
And for all of Romney’s talk about fixing the deficit – the votes are in … and analysts say it’s going to not only make the economy worse – it’s going to add to the federal deficit significantly more than President Obama. And that’s because – cutting taxes for the wealthy isn’t a free lunch. He wants to reduce and supports a 40% tax cut on the wealthy. And he wants to pay for it by cutting everything else Americans actually want.
