This is part 1 of a documentary called Homefront. This enrages me.
Imagine for a minute that your family has lived on property for over 50 years. Your family built two houses on this property. You grew up in this house and that’s all you know. And then one day – a foreign government … an occupying force says by their unjust decree – that one of those houses is no longer yours. The foreign government is giving it to some of “their own people”. How would you respond?
Would you consider retaliation? Would you consider murder? What if that were your only home and you had to live in the streets?
I do not care if the occupying government was Christian, Atheist, Mormon, Hindu, Muslim or Jewish … I would not be such a live and let live kind of guy. If the law is unjust … then it sounds like war to me. One doesn’t need fancy weapons to kill your enemy and if an occupying force took my land and house and I was only one of many who had experienced that same injustice … retribution would be mine. And that’s not my style; if I could feel this way – anyone could be pushed to radicalism. Just put yourself in the shoes of these people. You will often hear this pervasive bullshit that peace in Palestine will be had when Palestinian mothers care more about their children living than killing Israeli Jews; that’s nonsense. We’re all people and we all look for peace, but when you have nothing left to live for … well – we’re all human and we’re all capable of revenge and hate.
In fact – my own visceral feelings would be exactly what the fascists in the right wing of the Israeli government are just looking for. They need the appearance of being the victim in order for their theft of land to continue; they require an aggressor and killing Jews – settlers or otherwise – would be a great headline. Far greater men multiplied by 1 million have been able to turn their cheek and force peace through peace. And that’s the only way peace will be found.
In Israel – they are stealing land with no rights or cause in order to expand their borders before peace is made (if peace is ever made). These right wing fascist Jewish settlers are hostile and have no interest in peace …. they are not characteristic of the Jewish whole. The Jewish people are not a monolithic bunch; they are a people with varying ideologies and beliefs. Contrast the behavior of the Israeli settlers with that of other Jews who protest these injustices. In fact – the Jews being a liberal people and akin to justice in my opinion … recognize the illegal behavior that’s occurring with their Jewish Taliban … no different than in America where we have our version of the American Taliban. Unfortunately – the current government is led by that right wing coalition.
All an Israeli has to do to claim land is tell the Israeli government that they bought it from a Palestinian. They are not required to prove this with documents nor is the supposed seller given their day in court (until many years later after the land is already sold and the court rules it is too late now). An Israeli Jew can ask the military to claim his or her right to the land of a Palestinian without having to prove this in court.
Then they take the land. More on this below:
