Question: “You’ve made it very clear that you’re not in support of Planned Parenthood. But I’m just wondering where you would suggest that the millions of women who receive their health services such as mammograms and HPV vaccines go?”
Romney: “Well they can go wherever they’d like to go. This is a free society. But here’s what I’d say, which is the federal government should not tax these people to pay for Planned Parenthood … The idea of the federal government funding Planned Parenthood I’m going to say no, we’re going to stop that.”
The Republican war on women has been non-stop. Mitt Romney’s commitment to “get rid of Planned Parenthood” is an extreme position and shows just how out of touch he is with what women in this country really need in terms of access to health services…and the costs that come with those services.

The chart above shows that just 3% – THREE % – of all services that Planned Parenthood offers is abortion services. Planned Parenthood looks after millions of women a year. And this means that many women will not have access to a provider near them who actually covers cancer screening and prevention, mammograms, contraception needs etc. Women who live in cities will still likely have some options; however – rural women will have fewer and fewer options if any. But – don’t worry…you can “go wherever you like” unless where you’d like to go is Planned Parenthood.
In the video…he says “we need to cut federal spending by $1 trillion” and he’s going to cut “some things you like and some things you don’t like”.
Another cut you won’t like: Cuts to education programs so students will pay more for college. Don’t worry – he says you can join the military. Win – win.

Of course – Mitt Romney COULD support eliminating a tax loophole for millionaires that he himself has profited from in the tens of millions..the “carried interest” rule that his own firm Bain Capital lobbied for. He COULD support that. But he doesn’t.

And of course – Mitt Romney COULD support reducing wasteful spending in the military and decreasing the size of government and minimizing American wars. But he doesn’t.

And of course – Mitt Romney COULD choose not to offer huge tax cuts for the 1% of the 1% of society. He could choose not to offer a $2.5 million tax CUT to a person making $10 million a year. But he doesn’t.
