Largest. Presidential Fundraiser. Ever.
This is the reality of American politics. The Republican party will not get the money out of politics and the Democrats aren’t likely to want to do it either. The only real solution is publicly funded elections, because otherwise – each party finds big money constituencies that they pander to…and ultimately pass laws for. And if you don’t – you lose. It’s Moneyball and being competitive in the money game IS a requirement of politics.
Republicans have money from Wall Street, big oil, and LOTS of big money billionaires. Democrats get money from unions, Hollywood and Silicon Valley. And they both get money from Jewish interest groups, defense contractors, telecommunications and pharmaceutical companies etc depending on which way the wind blows and what direction each party is willing to vote.
It’s the nuclear proliferation of American politics and if it doesn’t get fixed – a disaster looms on the horizon.

One hundred fifty high rollers — including Hollywood studio heads, celebrities and an array of entertainment industry execs — have paid $40,000 apiece to dine with the president at Clooney’s Studio City home May 10. DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg, the president’s major entertainment industry fundraiser, has been spearheading the event along with Hollywood political consultant Andy Spahn.
The packed dinner at Clooney’s house will bring in $5 million to $6 million for the president’s campaign coffers, sources told THR. The demand for tickets at the event was so great that organizers tried to limit the guest list to those living in Southern California.
