Just so you know – the first two groups are run by Karl Rove and funded by anonymous billionaires, corporations and who knows what foreign money. They are listed as 501(c)3 organizations for tax purposes and are defined as a “public charity or private foundation”; all donations that go towards these organizations are tax deductible. TAX DEDUCTIBLE. The madness.
People are malleable. If you think voters are not going to be affected by the hundreds of millions being spent in just 16 days … you’ve got another thing coming. People are easily influenced to do one thing if they think everyone else is doing that same thing. If the consensus appears to be that Jack The Ripper is the best guy for Senator … well hell – I’ll vote for Jack the Ripper because I’m pretty sure everyone else is. That’s how low information voters tend to make decisions; they follow the stream. In this case – the stream is just a big lie. And while President Obama can defend this onslaught of advertising because he’s on tv all the time and he ha a lot of money to defend himself …. how do lesser known Senators or congressmen and women defend themselves against this?
They’re STEALING DEMOCRACY. It only works if you buy it. The top 3 organizations are pro-Republican. That’s where ALL the money is coming from. So – are you voting with the anonymous group of billionaires or are you going to vote in your own self interest? Tough call.
From Politico HERE:
Overall during this time, outside political groups such as super PACs and politically active nonprofit groups made nearly $213 million worth of what are known as independent expenditures — typically, ads or other mass communications that overtly support or oppose federal political candidates.
Among those spending the most:
1) American Crossroads, $23.35 million, mostly in support of Romney and in opposition to Obama and Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.).
2) Crossroads GPS, $16.87 million, mostly in opposition to Obama, Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Democratic Senate candidates Tim Kaine (Va.), Rep. Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), Rep. Shelley Berkley (Nev.) and Rep. Joe Donnelly (Ind.).
3) Restore Our Future, $10.16 million, all in opposition to Obama.
