Paul Ryan bringing his mom out on stage in Florida surrounded by seniors is supposed to reassure you that this guy would never support old people paying more money for their Medicare because look … his mom is 78 and he wouldn’t let it happen to her either.  But most seniors don’t have Paul Ryan’s mom’s money.  Paul Ryan is using his mom for political purposes; she is a political prop.

As we have shared HERE – the Romney/Ryan plan “will increase Medicare premiums for fully 70% of Medicare enrollees?” and that’s IMMEDIATELY and in 2022 – seniors would be paying an additional $6,000 in out of pocket costs that they don’t pay today.  That would gradually increase to as much as $12,000 out of pocket or more; seniors CAN NOT AFFORD THAT.

Paul Ryan said:

“The president raised $716 billion from the Medicare program to pay for the ‘ObamaCare’ program.  What’s more, in addition to that he puts a board of 15 unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats in charge of Medicare who are required to cut Medicare in ways that will lead to denied care for current seniors.

We will end the raid of Medicare, we will restore the promise of this program and we will make sure this board of bureaucrats won’t mess with my mom’s healthcare or your mom’s healthcare.”

This video below is a presentation from the National Republican Congressional Committee and they have showcased how they’re going to fight back on Medicare politically.  They point to a congressional race in Nevada where the Republican candidate in 2010 was able to be perceived as unfriendly on Medicare to the better option relative to Medicare in only one month for those voters polled in the district.  The game plan they used in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional district is the EXACT game plan Romney and Ryan are using.  Here’s what it is and you can see the video for yourself:

#1 – Tell anyone who will listen that Obamacare cut Medicare and made it unsafe for seniors.  Tell everyone that anyone who supports Obamacare must support killing Medicare.

#2 – Use words like “save” and “protect” when referring to Medicare when talking about support of the Ryan plan

#3 – Most importantly … they say QUOTE “use third party validators (moms and seniors)”

The video above is boring but this IS THE GAMEPLAN politically.  Their view – if they can neutralize the Medicare issue by bringing it to a draw politically … then they can win on more friendly turf.  Because frankly – if they can convince seniors the Ryan plan is good for them …. they can probably convince anyone anything because the Ryan plan will literally lead to people dying.  I’m not being hyperbolic.

The Ryan plan means MAJOR changes to Medicare.  It would eliminate the Medicare guarantee and turn it into a voucher program.  Studies have shown the Ryan plan would cost anyone under 55 years of age an additional $6,000 a year with a slow increase to $12,000 extra out of pocket in later years (source).
