Governor Scott Walker (R-WI) has been one of the most divisive governors in recent history…and that’s saying quite a big considering his fellow Republican governors. He did not run on trying to break the backs of unions for political purposes but that’s exactly what he has done. And in the process of passing tens of millions in tax cuts for corporations – he has passed the largest education tax cuts in Wisconsin’s history. Politifact rates the claim as TRUE:
“Falk claimed Walker’s cuts in state support to local schools, tech colleges and public universities amount to the largest in state history.
We found previous cuts in those areas, but not in all three in the same year, and not nearly as deep when you roll them all together as has Falk.
We rate her statement True.”

Here is Brian Williams challenging Governor Walker for his education cuts and forces him to defend his position. This is the sound of him realizing his talking points aren’t working:
And compared to all of the states in the country – Wisconsin cut education by more than every state in the country minus Illinois, Kansas and Texas:
Four states — Illinois, Kansas, Texas, and Wisconsin – have cut spending by 10 percent or more since last year.

And when each state’s cuts are compared on a per student basis – Wisconsin’s cuts actually rank 1st in the country:
According to a preliminary study released Sept. 1 by the nonprofit research organization, the dollar change in spending from the last fiscal year to this year dropped $635 per student under Gov. Scott Walker’s budget that took effect July 1. New York was in second place, cutting state school aid $585 per student. California was third at $484.
