President Obama spoke in Charlottesville, Virginia yesterday to a crowd of over 7,500 people. It was a big crowd with lots of excitement in a very important swing state that Obama is currently leading just slightly in the polls. You’ll continue to hear that President Obama’s record is one of failure but that’s anything but the truth. They constantly claim how much he has changed America for the worse in so many frightening ways but at the same time – they say he’s been a weak, unsuccessful president.
Well – if you’re keeping score at home … that math doesn’t work out. It sounds like a Republican party freaking out that they’re about to get crushed and shown for the frauds they are. If President Obama wins another term and the American people give him a working majority in the House … the Republican party will fold in its attempts to block reasonable bills of compromise in the Senate. But you have to vote for it to happen, and you can’t vote if you’re not registered to vote.
As we have shared in “President Obama has been a successful President” – here are 13 major accomplishments of the Obama administration via Kevin Drum:
1. Passed Health Care Reform
2. Passed the Stimulus
3. Passed Wall Street Reform
4. Ended the War in Iraq
5. Eliminated Osama bin laden
6. Turned Around U.S. Auto Industry
7. Repealed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”
8. Reversed Bush Torture Policies
9. Kicked Banks Out of Federal Student Loan Program
10. Boosted Fuel Efficiency Standards
11. Passed Mini Stimuli (July 22, 2010; December 17, 2010; December 23, 2011)
12. Created Conditions to Begin Closing Dirtiest Power Plants
13. Achieved New START Treaty
And after President Obama gave his rally in Charlottesville, Virginia …. he had a Q&A online that almost broke Reddit HERE:
After a campaign stop in Charlottesville, Va., President Barack Obama took time to nearly break one of the Internet’s more popular websites.
Obama took questions from users of Reddit, a social news website where millions of users submit news and commentary, and those entries are rated by other users. The appearance created so much buzz online that the site was overwhelmed and had to be shut down temporarily.
The Commander In Chief responded to queries from all over the map, from serious issues like student debt, internet freedom and the Citizens United Supreme Court ruling, to lighter fare, like the recipe for the White House beer and his favorite basketball player (Michael Jordan, of course … “I’m a Bulls guy”).
Most people do not understand that politics is like tectonic plates. They are slow to move, usually beneath the surface and almost impossible to stop. That is how politics works.
If Republicans win and they privatize Medicare – it could be decades before we get it back if ever. If Obama wins – it will take decades for Republicans to mount any real challenge to repealing elements of Obamacare. If Republicans win – major spending cuts for social services will take place to pay for taxes for the richest; it could take decades to fix that. If Obama wins – taxes will go up on the richest no matter what and that could usher in a new era of higher taxes for the rich like we had from the 40′s to the 70′s. Tectonic plates.
