This chart is pretty simple to read … corporate profits after tax. You don’t want to compare that to median wages – believe me. Corporate profits are at an all time high. Compare that chart to this quote from Mitt Romney today:
One must ask whether we will still be a free enterprise nation and whether we will still have economic freedom. America is on the cusp of having a government-run economy. President Obama is transforming America into something very different than the land of the free and the land of opportunity.
Apparently – if you try to do any of the following things … you’re “transforming America into something different than the land of the free and the land of opportunity.” Mitt Romney is a pathological liar. All of these are apparently socialism:
- Trying to change a system that allows CEO’s to pay 0% on borrowing millions on their stock grants (source)
- Trying to change a system that allows at least 26 major companies to get a net tax refund over the last 4 years i.e. taxpayers pay these businesses to exist despite ungodly profits (source)
- Trying to change a system that gives $24 billion in taxpayer subsidies for the five largest oil companies that made almost $1 trillion in profits over the past decade (source)
- Trying to tax someone a little more who makes $1.4 million an HOUR (source)
H/T to Andrew Sullivan for the Romney quote
