Sean Hannity is the guy you go “interview” with as a politician when you need to get your message out without any concern for challenging questions. Sean Hannity has an amazing capacity to get on his knees for any conservative politician with great urgency. The portion on the 47% starts at the 5:13 mark; if you’re a masochist – watch the whole thing.
Romney has never said to this day even in this Sean Hannity interview that he does not believe 47% of Americans are victims. He has not said that he does not believe 47% of Americans won’t care for themselves. The best he can muster is that HE CARES for the 100%. Even Jesus cared for lepers. He thinks he’s Jesus and you’re a leper if you don’t pay federal income taxes.
Romney said on Hannity:
“Clearly in a campaign with hundreds if not thousands of speeches and question-and-answer sessions, now and then you are going to say something that doesn’t come out right. In this case I said something that’s just completely wrong. And I absolutely believe, however, that my life has shown that I care about 100 percent. And that has been demonstrated throughout my life. And this whole campaign is about the 100 percent. When I become president it will be about helping the 100 percent.”
So – he just misspoke when he said that he’ll never be able to convince 47% of Americans “they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” That was all just a misunderstanding even though that’s exactly what he meant and exactly how he feels.
He also says in this video with Hannity that he cares about the 100% and “that has been demonstrated throughout my life.”
Some examples of that “caring for the 100%”:
“BAIN CAPITAL PUT ARMED GUARDS AT THE DOORS … AND TOLD US WE WERE ALL FIRED”
More stories like that HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE.
Newsflash: You can’t claim to care for people when you make hundreds of millions by buying profitable companies, borrowing heavily based on their value, force them to pay you huge management fees and then fire all the workers when the company has too much debt to pay all the bills. That’s called being a cut-throat capitalist who doesn’t care for his workers.
And remember Romney’s initial response after he was caught cold busted insulting half of America as little peasants … he held a press conference which we shared HERE. His immediate response to that was it “wasn’t elegantly stated” and it was “off the cuff”. It was off the cuff because that’s what he really thinks.
But still … to this day – he has yet to acknowledge that his comments were wrong. But he does acknowledge that his policies wouldn’t help half of Americans. That’s the implicit message her and he has said as much. So while Romney is trying to carefully walk back his comments for show on a safe network during the Sean Hannity BJ hour … his surrogates say things like “we’re a nation of people divided upon government” HERE and his own VP was caught busted on tape saying he thinks 30% of Americans want a welfare state and that 70% of Americans get more from government than they give to government HERE.
The NY Times points out an interesting little piece of strategy by the Obama campaign. Liberals are perplexed that Obama didn’t bring up Romney’s 47% comments … but the NY Times explains why HERE:
While Mr. Axelrod said Mr. Obama simply never found an opportunity, another aide offered another suggestion: To have done so would have given Mr. Romney an opening to undo the political damage of the remarks with a certain, planned answer before a huge television audience of 67.2 million.
