Yet another undercover recording of the Romneys at a 1k per plate fundraiser in March of this year has been uncovered by Mother Jones – this time in Irvine, California. The obvious point of all of this is that Mitt Romney believes Barack Obama is assaulting the freedoms of the wealthiest Americans by wanting to raise their taxes and he will do ANYTHING to defend those poor, poor souls. I’m insulted by his wife’s comments and I’m not surprised by Mr. .01% at all.
If you think they don’t view the world through the lens of us vs. them – I’m concerned for you. Mr. Romney’s interests are singularly focused on the capital class; the people who have lots of money. I assure you – he does NOT care about the 47% of Americans who don’t pay income tax. He just views you as a mark. A convenient fool to help him get elected; he believes if you throw money at America’s wealthiest … it will trickle down on you.
Ann Romney says this HERE:
You know—the ship’s going over the waterfall, it’s almost there. And we look what’s happening in Greece, and we look what’s happening around the world, we look what’s happening internationally. This is a frightening world, and we need a grown-up, and we need someone that understands the economy. So I’m glad…Mitt is grown up to you all.
That’s very insulting. I always make it a point not to knock the families of the candidates but when the families of the candidates starting being political operatives for their spouses … well – the gloves go off.
And then Mitt Romney says this:
I’m convinced that if this president is reelected, the war on business and economic freedom will continue. I don’t think the president likes you very much. If you’re in business, I think he looks at you as a necessary evil—and maybe not so necessary. I love you, all right? I love, I love business. I love people who employ other people, who have dreams and ideas, and are willing to start enterprises, and put people to work—all good things grow from successful enterprises. Businesses—good jobs come from good businesses.
Obama hates business so much that corporate profits are at an all time high. Not that facts apparently matter; as we shared HERE:
The chart below shows corporate profits. You may notice that regulations and the fear of taxes are not inhibiting business profits. This chart reminds me of this scene HERE. You may also note that conservatives are pushing for further tax breaks for large corporations and espousing the view point that somehow too much government intervention is making it difficult to be profitable. Right.
Then Romney said this:
When I heard the head of Coca-Cola say that the business environment in America is less hospitable than the business environment in China, I knew we had a problem. I want to make sure that America has the most attractive business conditions in the world—that every entrepreneur once again says, “I want to be an American.” Whether it’s energy or regulation or tax policy or labor policy or legal policy or health care policy—I want America to be the best place for business.
So – the solution for America is to be competitive via tax, labor, health care policies. Guess what – that means … if only Americans were paid less – American businesses could be competitive. Now – the good news is America is finally competing with China for the first time in two decades by taking action on unfair trade practices, raising tariffs when necessary and protecting American worker’s rights here in America. Mitt Romney is against those things. He believes if you give businesses the freedom to do what they want or need … then everyone wins.
We tried that for 8 years and all we saw was a flood of American jobs going to China. Jobs are already coming back but I assure you – Romney’s vision for a new America is to give businesses more flexibility, to kill unions and to eliminate benefits. That’s what he did when he was at Bain and he did great even though American workers suffered. And yet - for all of his wishes – somehow Canada and Germany who have highly unionized workforces with socialist healthcare systems are able to compete in the world economy just fine.
The Romney vision for America would lead to a continuation of George Bush’s policies; it would be a disaster for the middle class.
